🚂 Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad No. 643, the sole surviving H-1 class 2-10-4 "Texas" type steam locomotive engine built in 1944 by Lima Locomotive Works. Weighing around 520,000 lb, it is one of the heaviest steam locomotives ever built.

Photos from 2018, when it sat #abandoned in an impound. Now it is restored and part of the Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum in Sugarcreek, Ohio.

The Album Cover as Artwork 😍

Edward Colver says:

“In late 1978, I started photographing the underground punk scene in Los Angeles. Black Flag asked me to photograph their new frontman, Henry Rollins, for the cover of their first LP.”

Black Flag’s album “Damaged” was released on December 5, 1981

Happy 25th anniversary to this Daily Mail article from the year 2000, proclaiming that internet "may be just a passing fad as millions give up on it".

Ashamed to say that I never knew who Fred Hampton was or understood his impact until I was an adult.

History that isn’t taught is history that didn’t happen. The FBI, in collusion with the Chicago Police Department, assassinated Fred Hampton on this day in 1969. We can only imagine what kind of world we would be experiencing had he lived:

#OnThisDay, 28 Nov 1967, Jocelyn Bell Burnell discovers the existence of pulsars.

Not included in the 1974 Nobel prize for the discovery, Bell received a £3m prize for her work in 2018. She's used it to set up a foundation to improve the diversity in STEM.

#OnThisDay, 15 Nov 1982, at least 11 women* from the Greenham Common Peace Camp in the UK are sent to prison. They had refused to be bound over to keep the peace after occupying a sentry box on the US base.

*some sources say 23, others 11.
